Marriage bargain.   Written by Mandy N (1/27/2004 9:38 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Short-changed?, penned by Kathi

There is no doubt Mr Collins has a bargain with Charlotte. The daughter of a knight, her father's been introduced at the Court of St.James, she's a social equal. A sensible, level-headed woman whose aware of his charecter flaws, she's clever enough to develop strategies to help her husband curb his silliness in society e.g ask Lay C. permission for advice when he's sycohpancy bores even to her Ladyship, ignore his worst comments in front of visitors. She would be able to give him advice concerning parish affairs. Yes, he was luckier than he deserved to be :) Earlier in discussion, it was brought up Mr Collins only imagined he had regard for Charlotte. She has no estimation for Mr Collins. Ironically, it seems better if one of them remains realistic.
