...that they probably owe this early visit to the fact that Darcy can't stay away from Elizabeth, but at this point I think Charlotte hits on the right reason due to her own wishful thinking (she wants this rich, influential man to be interested in her friend), rather than because she has any real evidence. Given Darcy's behaviour up to now, I think Elizabeth is quite justified in laughing off any suggestions that he might be attracted to her.
