A chance to picture their relation   Written by Ann2 (1/11/2004 5:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, A small correction, penned by Chandra S
Are you new?

In Chap 4 JA says Bingley has the highest opinion of Darcy's judgment.

This "falsification" of Andrew Davies' where Bingley has brought his friend and is asking for Darcy's approval to take Netherfield is a way of stressing this, but I agree that it makes Bingley seem less independent.
The main point in the novel is rather his rash decision after an accidental recommendation and looking at it for half an hour. Nothing suggests that he asked Darcy's advice in the matter. Perhaps more of his being youthful and sometimes acting without due reflection?

I also agree fully with Kathy Elder on the advantages of seeing more of D & B ;-).
