Rumor and the chaise-and-four   Written by Kristen G. (1/11/2004 5:01 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, chaise vs. horseback, penned by Emmanuelle
Are you new?

Mrs. Bennet has had it from Mrs. Long that Bingley arrived in a chaise-and-four to view the place, but of course, Lizzy saw for herself that Bingley came on horseback. Lizzy even gives her mother a look when she mentions the chaise. The rumor mill in the Longbourn area is not always accurate. This is again seen when Mr. Bingley arrives at the ball with only two ladies and two gentlemen.
