]Readers already have some reason to guess that Mr. Darcy's was the most intricate character she'd ever encountered, and she wasn't amused by it.

She entertained herself by making fun of it. Starting at the assembly, when she parodies his insults, and later on at Netherfield in the conversations about his character, trying to get Miss Bingley to participate in teasing him... she doesn't like him, but I do think she is very amused by him.
