Cousins..   Written by DeborahAnn (1/25/2004 12:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Relationship of Collins, Sr to Mr Bennet, penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

First Cousins are not really considered distant relations.

If you take the example of Mr Bennet being the nephew of Mr Collins..then Mr Bennet and Mr Collins would be 1st cousins and that would be a close relative.

The term cousin was used in a much wider sense that--might not refer to the daughter or son a Uncle or Aunt--might be the child of a more distant relative.
