I think this is an excellent thought -- that Caroline & Louisa composed the letter together. They seem to be of a similar mind, and I suspect we wouldn't be able to tell them apart if they were both single or both married.

I can just see them thinking that they had to write something to Jane (to say goodbye, etc.), and they would want to make it clear that they didn't intend to return AND that they didn't expect their brother to return, either.
