2 questions in ch. 21   Written by Line (1/25/2004 9:01 a.m.)
Are you new?

When Caroline Bingley sends Jane her letter announcing their departure, it's written on "a sheet of elegant, little hot-pressed paper". What is hot-pressed paper, and why was it special?

Then, at the end of her message, she says: "I sincerely hope...that your beaux will be so numerous as to prevent your feeling the loss of the three of whom we shall deprive you."

Obviously she means Bingley and Darcy as the first two beaux, but who is the third - Mr. Hurst? If so, the word "beau" obviously has a much looser meaning for her than I would have thought - not "potential husband", but "any male dancing partner"! ;-)
