Are you new?

..from such a poor background? I don't remember that in the text. His father was Mr. Bennet's relation so it's possible that the elder Mr. Collins was a gentleman as well. If the father was able to disagree with Mr. Bennet then I would imagine that he and Mr. B were equals. Mr. Collins was educated in one of the universities, but that obviously didn't give him any sense or wisdom.

I dislike him as well in most cases, but he does give some comic relief...sometimes.
