Random speculation   Written by KateL (1/23/2004 6:59 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I don't know about ..., penned by Line
Are you new?

One can't help wondering, what would a person actually have to do to make Mr. Collins feel less than flattered?

So far he's been ordered around (Lady Catherine), made fun of (Mr. Bennet), bluntly rejected (Elizabeth) and snubbed (Darcy). Yet he's still convinced he's a man of consequence, admired and respected by all. Nothing seems to penetrate.

Can we think of anything that would shake his self-image? Physical assault? Jumping up and down on his hat? Anything at all?
