Question of Etiquette   Written by Julianne E. (1/23/2004 4:17 p.m.)
Are you new?

I was wondering what the etiquette was for introducting a family of daughters, such as Capt. Denny did when they first met Wickham. In P&P2, Denny introduces them in order of their ages from oldest to youngest (I think; I can never be certain whether Mary or Kitty is older). Of course I understand that Jane gets the distinction of being the first introduced as the oldest, but after that is it necessary? I felt kind of sorry for Capt. Denny, possibly trying desperately to remember who came first!
