]...when she thought Mr. Bennet wouldn't call on Mr. Bingley, I somehow doubt where disappointment of her hopes would bring much peace and quiet. More likely an attach of nerves, it seems to me.

The whole scheme was to tease her and laugh at her. May be he loves her in a different way ,that is to surprise her and enjoy her rapture.
