]Somebody please defend him, I don't want to think ill of Bingley.

I always think that this ball was a compliment for Jane as her mother said before plus I like Allisons idea that "perhaps the Bennetts' were the last to arrive". and I think Bingley was very polite and thoughtful to take Lizzy's arm as well, for sure she dosn't wish for a better brother in law.
