actually I remember the first time I read P&P I was duped by Wickham as well.... (well that and I thought the Colonel must come back at some point, because I certainly didn't on first reading it think Lizzy would ever come to love that aweful Mr. Darcy...)

I laugh now, because I can't figure out why I was as duped as Lizzy... because I have a friend now reading it for the first time, hadn't heard anything about the book before... and is already rooting for Darcy at the beginning of the book...
