If Mrs Bennet had married at 16 or so, ...   Written by kathleen (elder) (1/22/2004 1:38 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ages.., penned by DeborahAnn
Are you new?

... thenI think she would be more worried that none of her daughters is married yet. Based on the fact that she doesn't seem overly desperate about the four girls over the age of 16 (everybody but Lydia at the start of the novel), I believe that Mrs Bennet was probably in her early to mid 20's when she got married. That would make her around 45 - 48 at the time of the novel -- still younger than she is usually portrayed in the adaptations.
