did seem sarcastic in the adaptation. But, your original interpretation is what JA intended, IMO.

]I have always taken this at face value: Lizzy saying they are alike in this way and Darcy saying she is not as she describes and being noncommittal as to whether or not it accurately describes him.

I somehow find it sweet of Darcy not to defend himself here! And he seems to be gently nudging her to examine her 'performance', so to speak.
