] Certainly not intended to put anyone in a twist.

Other than the argument of whether Darcy is shy, Lizzy's subconscious attraction, or lack thereof, is probably the topic most likely to put people in a twist. I'm not trying to discourage you, just letting you know. ;-)

] Anyway, by what I meant at all costs is Lizzy's meeting with Wickum and accepting him totally. What would have happened if Lizzy had met Wickum without Darcy even being in the country? I think she would have saw right through Wickum if that were the case, but with Darcy in the picture, she was blinded by other necessaties.

The people of Meryton in general did seem to accept Wickham at face value. I don't think Lizzy was unique in this.
