in consequence of the missive, Lydia's Laughter, penned by Nasima
1) Lydia's father has always disliked Mr. Collins' father, and she has probably grown up with thinking of Mr. Collins' father as an odious man. Therefore, his death is not a misfortune at all and she finds it ridiculous that Mr. Collins would call it one. Or
2) Her own relationship with her father is so nonexistent that she doesn't look upon the loss of a father as a misfortune. Either one of these thoughts could explain why Mr Bennet seems so annoyed, or he might just be annoyed that he was interrupted.
Just my two cents! :-)
