When Lizzie observed the reaction of Darcy to Wickham, I think, right off the bat, she determined Darcy to be at fault based on her personal feelings of dislike. This made her curious to know the details because she was sure she would hear something negative about Darcy to verify/support the way she felt . IMHO, to believe otherwise would throw a carefully crafted story off balance.
