in consequence of the missive, Ignoring what awareness?, penned by Kathi
....to disagree. Often ones own feelings or interpretations come from between the lines - personal experiences, etc... I personally don't have the skill to bring those out in any way that could be satisfactory to anyone- and could be easily abolished anyway by one who see's differently and it really isn't that big of a deal. I enjoy my view. I see Lizzy as aware and tracking Darcy when she is with him. It is subtle part of the story for me. It is not screaming I LOVE you and I just won't acknowledge it - it is simply an awareness. It is almost an animal instinct, a chemistry, or simply an internal radar - and if you decided you don't like that person - it is very annoying because you can't turn it off - which I feel feeds into Lizzy's prejudice and instant dislike. She just puts up too much effort into her dislike, makes a bit to much big deal about it to everyone else. Trying to build a bunker around herself with her dislike - but it does not stop her being aware of him.
I see the same thing happening with Darcy - but he reacted a little differently....
