]She seems to be particularly happy that Lizzy's favourite is just a steward's son. She is also ridiculing Lizzy's choice here.

yes, indeed. She said what she said to Lizzy to vex her. If she is clever she would encourage the relation between Lizzy and Wickham, but her hatred to Lizzy blinded her and made her try to break her heart ,especially if she saw or noticed the sorrow in Lizzy's eyes when she discovered that W is not coming.
