Darcy's faults are not merely those seemingly wrong--he really did behave badly. He acknowledges that himself. Otherwise, where is the need for change? Why state, "Such I was from eight to eight and twenty..." He was not dishonorable like Elizabeth thought he was, but that was because she took up an intense dislike and was prejudiced against him. But it was his pride and initial thoughtless insult that prejudiced her. It hardly happened merely because Darcy had a different personality than she generally admired or understood.
