in consequence of the missive, Group Read Wrap-Up Day -- what did you learn?, penned by kathleen (elder)
This is my third time to read P&P.
The first time, I read it just to see what all the hype was about. I heard so many of my friends rave about Jane Austen. I read P&P, and I was slightly disappointed. I felt that it did not live up to my expectations. The plot just seemed like a typical boy-meets-girl plot.
The second time, I read it for a literature class in college. I began to study the novel in depth. I began to see the richness of the story and the author's style.
This time, I read it without any expectations or required assignments, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I gained a fresh appreciation for the novel, its characters, and its authors. It is truly a beautiful love story of two people who learn to love each other as they learn more about each other and more about themselves.
