in consequence of the missive, Group Read Wrap-Up Day -- what did you learn?, penned by kathleen (elder)
I learned that I enjoy clerihews :o)
I’m intrigued by RobinJ’s interpretation of Mrs. Bennet’s statement “pray apologize for my having disliked him…” and plan to continue to mull that over.
After reading your posts, kathleen (elder), I’ve been thinking that Darcy’s improvement; Lizzy’s thought that, “by her ease and liveliness, [Darcy’s] mind might have been softened, his manners improved…”; and Mrs. Gardiner’s comment, “[Darcy] wants nothing but a little more liveliness, and that, if he marry prudently, his wife may teach him”, all show Darcy to have been “in want of a wife”, or more specifically in want of Lizzy, regardless of what his feelings or views may have been. :o)
And as always, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with a group of people who, not only love it as much as I do, but are interested in discussing it at this level of detail.
