in consequence of the missive, Chap 57: Mr Collins's letter, penned by kathleen (elder)
I like particularly the reasons why Mr Collins supposes his "cousin Elizabeth" should be tempted :
May I say, even if it is out of the group read, that I like very much the way Andrew Davies, in P&P2, transformed this letter into a visit? Though it was impossible in the novel (they were too far), the mini-series gives in fact two locations to Hunsford/Rosings : one at a short distance (20 to 30 miles) from Longbourn (Elizabeth's and Maria's come back + Mr Collins's visit), one at the novel distance, little less than 50 miles and through London (in the Hunsford dialogue before the proposal).
