in consequence of the missive, Perhaps "violently in love" means to act contrary to, penned by Stacey GC
Being "violently in love" describes the emotional state, which does seem to make them behave in a manner that is the opposite of their general character.
I wonder whether Mr Bennet, who was also very much (therefore violently) in love with Mrs Bennet before their marriage, read less, spent less time in the library, and was less cynical.
Mrs Bennet is likely to have not been in love, and probably remained the same, like Lydia.
