I do believe Wickham would have liked to "have" Elizabeth, he has feelings for her (I wouldn't say love...) and cares for her opinion of him. At the very least he values her ("l'hommage du vice à la vertu"? after all this French says derives from Chateaubriand's "Hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue" - which implies some lie) and highly appreciated her admiration. It is probably the reason why he lied to her at the beginning of their acquaintance, which was rather imprudent otherwise.
