I think Darcy got a little more than just deserts, Jasmine. Indeed he got a lot of undeserved bile from Lizzie's wrong views of him and Wickham's lies. He did indeed deserve her refusal of his blundering proposal, but he went away wounded that she should think so badly of him rather than just her refusal.
Lady Catherine, is a different kettle of trout altogether. Her absolute arrogance, self-importance and high self-opinionism, plus a fair amount of pure nonesense "If I had ever learned I should have been a great proficient" etc..got exactly what they deserved from Lizzie. A class example of just telling the truth without descending to name-calling or insults. Excellent work Elizabeth. Award yourself a mushroom vol au vent. (-:
