in consequence of the missive, Chap 53: News of the Return of Bingley, penned by kathleen (elder)
When Bingley comes to call, after his long absence, he brings Darcy with him. I love this description of Jane & Elizabeth:
Both sisters were uncomfortable enough. Each felt for the other, and of course for themselves; and their mother talked on, of her dislike of Mr. Darcy, and her resolution to be civil to him only as Mr. Bingley's friend, without being heard by either of them.
Jane & Elizabeth are each trying to compose herself, and they are also feeling anxious for each other. Contrast that to Mrs Bennet's yapping away, and it's difficult to believe that she is the mother of two such wonderful daughters.
