in consequence of the missive, Coincidences?, penned by Jim Morris
About projects to go back to Hertfordshire, what induces me to think that in fact, is that he hasn't spoken yet with Mr Bingley; of course he may have been but a short time with him, but we see that later, he is very late to do so, which induces me to think that he hadn't yet decided to tell him the truth, which decision I link to that of heading back to Hertfortshire, still "hopeless" but just to see her.

But what he told, in chapter 58, of Lady Catherine's call in town : "It taught me to hope, (...) as I had scarcely ever allowed myself to hope before" shows that he had not aknowledged these signals, in my opinion because of the strength of the blow he had received, poor man! In an emotional matter, how much injuried he had been, quite a traumatism! Yet he still loved her...
