The contents of this letter threw Elizabeth into a flutter of spirits,
Austen is brilliant as she relates Elizabethís thoughts in this long paragraph.
Of particular interest is For herself she was humbled; but she was proud of him. She still thinks she has little hope of winning Darcy back but she feels proud of him. One can only feel proud of someone who you identify with, one of your own. So in spite of the fact that she may never see Darcy again she still bonds with him that closely.
