can't figure out if she is in love with him or his fortune and position. It is clear that they have a history as close family friends. Darcy must view her in a sisterly way because he shares his innermost thoughts with her.
I dont think that there's the slightest doubt that she is "in love" with his fortune and position. I dont see any sign that they have a history as family friends. We dont know how long D has known teh Bingleys and given how vulgar the sisters are, I should say that either Darcy didn't notice it so much until he met Lizzy, or else he disliked their vulgarity but tolerated it because B was his friend... I dont see any signs that D shares his innermost thoughts with her. He is increasingly seen as trying to avoid talking to her, trying to stop her from pestering him when he is writing a letter, or being annoying when she thinks that he's more attracted to Eliz than to herself.
