You said it way better than I did. By the standards of the day Bingley had behaved in a way that would raise Janeís expectations, but left without fulfilling them. And that is why I was wondering whether his behavior can be considered as dishonorable. I think I am starting to lean towards "disgraceful" and "shameful" rather than dishonorable, but that's only because he didn't intend to break Jane's heart. I'm not sure I am being very objective here, because I like Bingley and want to think well of him. :-)
