with Lydia and Kitty who are loudly lamenting their misery when the regiment leaves and reproach Lizzy and Jane for their “hard-heartedness” in being able to “eat, drink, and sleep, and pursue the usual course of their employment”.
Meanwhile Jane’s heart truly is broken and they’ve done nothing to comfort her.
