in consequence of the missive, Willoughby much different, penned by Therese
but he is still culpable. He could have returned to Netherfield with the view of reviewing the evidence in the light of his friend's assertions. But he decides to trust his friend's judgement. After all, if one evening of close scrutiny was enough to convince Darcy that Jane did not love Bingley (I wonder whether Darcy neglected to mention that tiny little detail when he made his assertion), one evening might have been sufficient to convince Bingley whether he had been wrong or right about Jane.
