that her feelings would have grown to love? I don't think they would have. It was only when they met at Pemberley that Elizabeth began to feel herself in the beginnings of love.
So, it took another meeting with Darcy, with Darcy exhibiting (a) pleasant manners toward the Gardiners AND (b) no resentment toward herself for the way she rejected his proposal. Without this, imo, Elizabeth would not have felt more for Darcy than she felt in the first few days/weeks after she read his letter.
