in consequence of the missive, And his one real sin..., penned by Jim Morris
Why should Liz not treat wtih coldness (I would say coolness) a man who seems as arrogant and rude as Darcy is? SHe's not obliged to like everyone.. and Darcy has given her no reason to like him.
He is not "looking out for his friend". He is interfering in his friend's love life. Even if Jane did not love Bingley, what is the worst that would happen? Bingley proposes and because she does not love him (as Darcy thinks) she says no? It wont kill him.
And if she says yes, because she does like and respect him, and wants to be married, liek most girls, then he has gained a lovely charming and sweet natured wife, who will probalby grow to love him..and who will certainly be a good wife, who will look after him, be loyal to him and treat him with affection and respect.
