Yes it is a double standard, but it is because she IS attracted to Wickham, likes him and feels that he likes her and that pleases her and flatters her ego. She mightnt have married him, but she likes to feel that he did like her a lot and that if he hadn't needed money, he would have possibly proposed to her. She can forgive his desertion partly because she is not deep in love with him but just has a bit of a soft spot for him, and because he's a charming attractive man, so she makes excuses for him that she does not make for Charlotte.
