I see no reason why his avowed second motive could not be jealousy: it is clear (& you admit) that Darcy is jealous of Elizabeth's admiration for Wickham, and that makes my theory at least a possibility. I see nothing in the letter (or anywhere else in the novel) to indicate that Darcy thinks he has to protect Elizabeth from an imprudent marriage to Wickham, which means I see nothing that supports your theory.
I think we shall not be able to reach an agreement on this matter, however, so I will close here.
