in consequence of the missive, Darcy wanted to believe that Jane wasn't in love, and, penned by kathleen (elder)
Darcy wanted to believe that Jane was NOT in loved with Bingley -- "That I was desirous of believing her indifferent is certain", but proudly claimed "I will venture to say that my investigations and decisions are not usually influenced by my hopes or fears. I did not believe her to be indifferent because I wished it; I believed it on impartial conviction,".
Darcy's objections was not so much Jane's connexions because Bingley himself was not the same status as Darcy --
