I agree: this lack, during Darcy's proposal, makes his "love" for Elizabeth suspect and/or insufficient. He struggled with his feelings for several days (at least), and this struggle caused him to stay at Rosings beyond an originally planned departure [Col Fitzwilliam says that Darcy has put off their leaving at least once]. But Darcy's struggles, rather than Elizabeth's feelings, became a principal point of his proposal.
Elizabeth did not like Darcy, and his proposal angered her enough that she reacted rather less politely than she initially intended. Darcy is forced to recognize that there is at least one woman who will not accept him just because he has wealth and good family connections, and that woman will tell him to his face that he has acted badly.
