in consequence of the missive, Darcy’s letter and Bingley’s memory, penned by amytat
recollect the circumstances exactly, he "has heard them from Darcy more than once."
Can we say that Darcy wants to ensure that if Bingley happens to encounter Wickham, he (Bingley) will regard Wickham as a very rum chap and will not listen to him and his stories. Darcy does not embellish the story (which would involve lying) and so is forced to repeat the incident. Which with Bingley is probably counter-productive ;D
