Jane is a 'naturally good' character. She doesn't have to work at thinking the best of others or restraining her behavior. She is almost too good to be believable. Yet she remains likeable. Every reader wants Mr. Bingley to come back. No one thinks, 'what a little goody two-shoes. No wonder the Bingley sisters don't like her. Maybe she should have married Mr Collins and been a clergyman's wife.'
