Do you mean that Mrs G isnt correct in her recollections? I think that is possibly being implied, NOT that teh Darcy family werne't spoken of as being a rather "too proud" family, but possibly, Darcy wasnt' seen as being a particularly ill natured boy. But given her liking for Wickham, Mrs G thinks that she remembers that he was badly spoken of, even more than the rest of his famiy
