in consequence of the missive, Chaps 15 & 16 - all the ladies admire Mr Wickham, penned by kathleen (elder)
Mary didn't go with them.
Lydia's intention of walking to Meryton was not forgotten; every sister except Mary agreed to go with her; and Mr. Collins was to attend them, at the request of Mr. Bennet, who was most anxious to get rid of him, and have his library to himself; for thither Mr. Collins had followed him after breakfast (Ch. 15)
I imagine that Mary wanted to stay at home in order to work in her accomplishments, maybe with the intention to impress her cousin with her suitability as a parson's wife?
