|Giving up hope totally against Elizabeth's personality...

in consequence of the missive, Chap. 21 - to London and ??, penned by mikeB in Japan
Thus far through ch 25, Elizabeth's strong personality and in particular her candor, wit, liveliness, enthusiasm, and deep affection for her favorite sister would seemingly prevent her from discouraging Jane's connection with Mr. Bingley.
Her judgment appears in all situations to be spot-on, with the exception of Mr. Wickham where she does not yet have enough solid evidence to ascertain his character.
So, trusting in her innate ability to judge rightly, she has seen first-hand all that has passed between her sister Jane and Mr. Bingley to think otherwise of their mutual affection.
One wonders if or how Elizabeth's powers of discernment will hold up through subsequent chapters.
