All he is doing is make a parallel idle threat to wind up his wife, as he is clearly fond of doing, and at the same time make it clear even to her that he is not going to support her in her attempt to coerce Elizabeth into marriage.
"I will never see you again" or even "You will be dead to me" were common novel cliches at the time in stories involving people defying their parents over matrimonial matters, so maybe Jane Austen was also gently mocking other novelists.
