...of Caroline should still have been tempered with at least listening to what she said about the Wickham incident with Darcy, and disregarding her snobbish remarks about "the son of old Wickham, Darcy's steward". Unfortunately, her premature dislike of Darcy made her all too ready to hear only bad of him. Even Wickham's own testimonial to Darcy having good points was poo-poo'd in her mind. It had to be true, the man was a rotter, she'd decided. Foolish girl..
