was that you were by long custom given the clothes your lady had discarded. These you could either sell or make over for your own use, since if you were a lady's maid you would be a skilled semptstress. The Binglettes are ultra fashinable and probably discarded garments as soon as they were not the absolute latest colour or style, spending more money than they ought on replacements. Hence it is not to be wondered at if their maids were well-dressed, more so than the maids of less fashinable or more economical ladies would be.
