Not strutted about after having danced with the Bingley-sisters. Mr. Elton's breach of etiquette was severe indeed, and more than a breach--it was a pointed insult aimed at Harriet and Emma. So, Mr. Elton is not exactly the model of propriety that Darcy should look up to, is he? If Darcy did not want to dance with the locals, he should have stayed off the dance floor entirely (like Mr. Knightley did until he came to Harriet's rescue), or he should have escaped to the card room or its equivalent after dancing with the Bingley sisters.
